Kohler-Andrae State Park is two adjacent Wisconsin state parks managed as one unit, located a few miles south of
Sheboygan. Terry Andrae State Park, established in 1927, and John Michael Kohler State Park, established in 1966,
total 988 acres (4.00 km2). The parks contain over two miles (3 km) of beach and sand dunes along
the shore of Lake Michigan, with woods and wetlands away from the water. The Black River flows through the parks. (source: wikipedia)
The dunes formations along the shore are fragile ecosystems, and the park is popular, which can be a troublesome combination.
We will be walking on a "cordwalk," which protects the dunes. It's like a boardwalk but the boards are connected
with steel cables and ride on the top of the sand. It's an easy hike, mostly flat, some rolling ups and downs, and a few places
where the cordwalk is slanted because the dunes have shifted under it!
Each end of the cordwalk has a picnic area and restrooms. We will gather at the South parking lot/picnic area, hike to the North
area (with several side-trips along the way) where we will do some journal work and eat lunch. Then, it's around and the Nature
Loop and back along the cordwalk to the South area for supper.
On registration, each participant will receive "before you go" materials including trek information, map(s),
and journal work to do before the day of the trek. At the site, participants will receive a metal water bottle,
journal notebook and pencil, hand sanitizer and wipes, and a disposable facemask (all yours to keep). We'll provide
a bag lunch and cooked supper as well. See the registration form above for a complete description. The writing exercises are drawn
from a number of proven approaches, all with the intention of facilitating your awakening. This Integral Trek will work your body,
calm your mind, and lift your spirit!
